This project goal is to build a simple table lamp using an LED bulb. This is an opportunity to present tje many adavantages of light emitting diodes (LED) which have now replaced the classic incandescent light bulbs in Europe :

  • Very good energy efficiency (for the same amount of light, LED bulbs consume 90% less energy than old incandescent bulbs and are even more efficient than compact fluorescent bulbs and florescent tubes!).
  • Very long service life (e.g. 20,000 hours advertised)
  • Maximum brightness from the start and depending on the model, possibility to use a dimmer of light intensity.
  • Very good value for money if you take in account its long serice life !

Like any new technology, the reliability and advertised characteristics of LED bulbs are not always assured, but the situation is improving rapidly.
