Backward writing | |||||||||||||||||||||||
![]()
Leonardo da Vinci used to write 'backwards', i.e. from right to left and 'in mirror image'.
It is assumed that this saved him from running his hand over the fresh ink, as he was left-handed. He also knew how to write from left to right like us and signed his name in this way.
This 'backwards' writing is called 'specular' and can be deciphered by reading its reflection in a mirror.
Writing backwards like Leonardo da Vinci did require a great deal of practice and genius. For the 'less genius' we present here a number of methods to easily write backwards.
This project was developped for the magazine 'Campus Junior' of the University of Geneva. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
