Fonctionnement - Solar electricity storage

  • On the way up (the bottle is at the bottom)

    1. Check that the U-profile is up and not touching any wheel

    2. Connect the solar cell

    3. Place the cell in the sun (e.g. through a window).

    4. The motor starts and the cord is wound.

    5. The bottle rises very slowly.

A gear system is used to lift the bottle (or any other weight of about 300 g.) with very little energy.

The level of gearing used is 3'225:1, i.e. the first wheel driven by the motor must turn 3'225 times to make the last wheel turn once. As a result, the weight is very slow to move up.

  • On the way down (the bottle is at the top)

    1.  Disconnect the solar cell

    2. Using a screwdriver, fix the coil on the other axis

    3. 3. Lower the gear wheel of the U-profile axle onto the wheel just below it.

    4. Let the cylinder down

    5. The motor (dynamo) is activated and provides the electricity for the LED to light up.

The electric motor rotates in 'reverse' i.e. like a dynamo (electric generator).

The relationship between the slowness of the ascent and the brevity of the lighting at the descent is not very favorable, but this model is just to demonstrate a principle.
