The use of sun energy is not limited to photovoltaic cells for electricity or solar thermal collectors for heating. Other ideas exist, often still experimental, like the solar chimney. A huge project of this type is planned in Australia with a tower 1 km high!
 
The construction of a solar chimney model demonstrates the physical principles which are used in solar thermal power plants (greenhouse effect, air expansion, absorption of radiation by black colour, etc.).
