We had fun in the following examples by distorting the face of Empress Eugénie, the wife of Napoleon III...

  • From smile to grimace

  • Step 2

Fold the image in half, this vertical fold should pass through the middle of the nose.

Then fold on either side of the mouth.

  • Step 3

    .

  • Step 4

Form a 'peak' towards yourself with the middle fold.

  • Step 5

Now, if you slowly move the paper forward or backward, the character will change from a smiling to an unhappy face !

  • Inversion

  • Step 6

Cut out rectangles around the eyes and mouth.

Turn them over and glue them back in place.

    What a strange expression?!

  • Fake profile

  • Step 7

Starting with a front-facing portrait, cut out a profile while keeping one nostril and one eye.

Paste this fake profile onto a neutral background.

  • Weird Aliens

  • Step 8

Fold or cut a face to reduce certain parts and change its proportions.

With several folds or cuts, you can get really strange faces.

    They really look like aliens!
