How to use - Senet Game

  • Rules of the game (The complete rules have never been found!)

    1. Alternately place the white and black pawns on the top line. The route to be taken by the pawns is indicated by the treated line.

    2. The youngest player starts with black. He throws the dice. If he pulls a 6, he must roll the dice again. Otherwise, he moves forward the rightmost black pawn of the number of squares indicated on the dice. If he has drawn an odd number (1, 3 or 5), he can play again.

    3. Then it's up to the other player to do the same thing this time with the white pawn of his choice, and so on alternating players.

    4. It is not possible to land on a square occupied by one of its own pawns.

    5. It is allowed to pass over pawns.

    6. If a pawn falls on a square occupied by an opposing pawn it takes its place and the opposing pawn is moved to the square from which the pawn started.

    7. It is not possible to take the place of an opposing pawn on 5 protected squares* or if two or more opposing pawns are placed next to each other (on the same line).

    8. If a pawn falls on a special square**, specific rules must be observed.

    9. Players must always perform a move unless no movement is possible. In this case, players pass their turn.

    10. The first player whose pawns are all out after completing the full ride wins.
