Fonctionnement - Printmaking simplified

  • Several tests are usually needed to obtain the best possible results.

If certain areas are not printed, pass the knitting needle again in the hollow parts and start again the inking process.

It is also possible to put different colours on the plate and produce gradient effects.

The print shows the reverse of the image (as in a mirror). To check, it is possible to engrave letters or figures the other way round and discover that the printed result is right.

  • Here is a short video showing the principle of printing on laminated + corrugated paper:

  • Example with an egg box cardboard

The egg box cardboard allows more fine results than corrugated cardboard, but the engraving is shallower.

In this example, a template was glued on the cardboard before laminating. To draw the image, simply follow the lines.

Unlike this example, it is better to let children create their own designs. Once their project is suitable (size, simple enough), it can be used as a template and glued on the cardboard.

  • Once the plate has dried, clusters of paint can be removed with the scratchy side of a sponge.

It is then possible to start the printing process again with a plate as clean as in the beginning.

Vous utilisez des aiguilles à tricotter pour marquer les plaques. Une alternative pourrait être un vieux stylo bille dont l'encre est épuisée.
