Réalisation - Trammel of Archimedes - ellipsograph

  • Etape 1

On the 15 x 15 cm wooden board, measure and draw a cross with 11 mm wide sections.

With hot glue, fix precisely the four 5 x 5 cm wood pieces in each corner of the cross.

  • Etape 2

Drill two holes in the wood slat with a No4 bit : one at 1cm an the other one at 5.5. cm of one end.

Glue a wooden pearl on the other end of the slat (or as shown a small wooden dowel).

Drill the centres of the two small wooden pieces with a No4 bit.

With a No8 bit, drill a few millimetres into the hole, enough to fin an M4 nut in.

  • Etape 3

Using the two M4 bolts and M4 nuts, attach the two small wood parts on the slat.

Do not tighten too hard so that the parts can still rotate freely.

  • Etape 4

In the cross created previously, position the different elements as shown on the photo.
