Réalisation - Steamboat

  • Etape 1

Cut a horizontal slit on both sides of the bottle with a pair of scissors (a bit above the middle as shown). Cut across to reach the two slots and remove the "cover".

  • Etape 2

Cut an opening at the back of the boat using strong cutting pliers.

Tis back opening must be about level with the height of the opening edges.

  • Etape 3

Cut out two small notches on each side of the boat.

  • Etape 4

Cut slightly the tip of the two forex rectangles to narrow them. Paste them on top of each other with double sided adhesive foam tape. Paste the two rectangles on the bottom of the boat with the same adhesive tape as close as possible of the bottom of the bottle.

Avertissement The balance of the boat is very important. Try to paste the two rectangles perfectly in the centre of the hull.

  • Etape 5

Pass on each side of the cigar tube 2 wires. Twist them together with pliers to enclose properly  the tube. Cut off 1 of the 2 wires on each side and bend the remaining one to form side supports fitting the two notches on the sides of the boat.

From the inside, punch with an awl a very tiny hole in the lid of the cigar tube (where shown).

Stick a piece of adhesive "felt" at the end of the tube, in order to be able to handle it without burning your fingers too much.

  • Etape 6

Cut out a square (as shown) in a sheet of thick aluminum foil according (with two lateral notches). Cut slits where doted lines are indicated (a cross in the centre and two notches to form 3 "flaps" on one side).

Avertissement Be very careful with the sharp edges of the rigid aluminium foil.

  • Etape 7

Fold the aluminum foil to form an "arch". "Close" one end by folding and pasting the three flaps.

  • Etape 8

Cut another piece of aluminum to form a small cylinder (as shown). Paste it and cover the top with adhesive "felt".

Pass the chimney through the center hole. Paste it in place with contact cement or adhesive aluminum tape.

  • Etape 9

Attach on the bottle cap a wire with two beads in order to reduce friction against walls.
