Réalisation - Steam engine

  • Etape 1

    Pass on each long bolt a nut and a washer until the specified position (see illustration).


  • Etape 2

    Place  gas stove adapter on the nuts and washers.

     

    Secure it with a new series of washers and nuts.

     

    Tighten all securely using two wrenches.



  • Etape 3

    Screw a nut onto each end of the long bolts.

     

    bend the ends of the two metal wires.

     

    Tighten the wires between nuts and cap nuts to form 2 parallel bars (see illustration).

     

    Glue the feet of the structure on a piece of tile using two component glue (epoxy-Araldit).

     

    Allow to dry.



  • Etape 4

    With a box cutter, cut out 4 small rectangles of balsa.

     

    Form a turbine by pasting the four parts (flaps) around a small plastic tube (with universal glue  e.g. Cementit) .



  • Etape 5

    Pass the steel rod (bar) in the center of the turbine. Slide on both sides and a plastic pearl.

     

    Glue the pearls on the bar leaving just enough room for the turbine to turn freely.



  • Etape 6

    Punch a very small hole in the center of the lid of the box.

     

    Punch from the inside to the outside of the lid.
