Réalisation - Solar boat

  • Etape 1

Bend the ends ot the 14 cm long perforated metal strip so that they are not sharp.

Fold the strip at 90 degrees about 3.5 cm from one end.

Glue the longer part of the metal strip on the back of the photovoltaic cell using two component epoxy glue (Araldit).

Leave it to dry at least 1 hour.

  • Etape 2

According to the diagram (to download from the blueprints/plan section) report the marks on the wooden board.

    Drill through the A, B, C, D marks with a 4 mm bit.

Paint the board on both sides and leave it to dry.

  • Etape 3

Cut two perforated metal strips of about 35 cm.

Fold the four ends and flatten them with pliers.

  • Etape 4

Center the metal strips on the board and pass screws through the holes.

Screw nuts the other side and tighten well.

  • Etape 5

surround the bottles with plastic cable ties passing through the holes of the perforated metal strips.

  • Etape 6

Tighten well and then cut the exceeding part of the cable ties with scissors or clamps.

  • Etape 7

Strip the ends of two fine electric wires.

Open the motor case and lift the contacts for the battery. Make a small hole in the motor case with an awl and pass the wires through.

Twist the stripped ends of the electric wire around the contacts of the battery.

    Close the motor case.

Avertissement Check that the two contacts do not touch each other when closing of the motor case

  • Etape 8

Attach to the board the spring clip with a screw and a nut (through hole B).

Pass the two fine wires through the hole (C) and fix the motor with the spring clip.

  • Etape 9

Attach the solar cell to the board using a bolt and a winged nut (through the hole).

Tie the two fine wires at the base of the photovoltaic cell leaving enough length so that it can freely move round 380 degrees.

Twist the ends of the electric wires around the contacts of the photovoltaic cell.
